Sydney Latin American Film Festival 10th Birthday Bash

Sydney Latin American Film Festival 10th Birthday Bash!
A great night out celebrating Latino film, music and culture.
Addison Road Community Centre, 142 Addison Rd, Marrickville – Friday 25th September 2015.
Doors open 6:30pm – Film starts 7pm
In true Latin style, 2015 is no exception as  we celebrate our 10th Anniversary with not one party ‐ but four unique fiestas criss-crossing Marrickville to the Harbour Bridge between September and November.
We are excited to announce our program launch on September 25th with our Birthday Bash. As a thank you to our supporters, we are hosting a non-ticketed event with an amazing lineup of film and music with food and drinks available for purchase. All donations received on the night will go directly to maintaining the sustainability of SLAFF.
For the past 10 years we’ve not just had a great time with our audiences – we’ve celebrated the diversity of Latin American culture and raised over $110,000 for Community Development Projects throughout Latin America.
FILM
We will be screening award winning Colombian feature LOS HONGOS*. A melting pot of stories and experience, the film recreates a day in the life of two young graffiti artists in Cali Colombia as they search for a way to continuously create and express the freedom they crave. The film’s sophisticated visual language  relentlessly bursts with colour and is matched with an energetic Afro‐Colombian soundtrack.
MUSIC
Dj Hector Mikem is one of the most charismatic DJ’s of the Latin scene in Sydney, and resident DJ at Candelaria, Latin night. His musical influences began in his native Medellin – Colombia and over time he has established a unique style that has its roots in his passion for Salsa. http://www.sydneylatinofilmfestival.org/sydney-latin-american-film-festival-10th-birthday-bash/DJ Mikem feels that music is the universal language that can unite cultures and societies.
Oscar Cadena began his journey as a DJ in 1993 in a small Salsa club of his home town, Bucaramanga-Colombia. When partying with Oscar’s tunes, be prepared to hear the authenticity of rhythms from his native Colombia mixed with the most current and vibrant Latin hits, creating an eclectic set that will make your heart beat at the rhythm of his music.
